Monk Arsenije

Monk Arsenije, who grew up in New York, was once a cult rock figure in 1980s Belgrade. For the past 30 years he has been living as a monk, helping to restore and create a spiritual and cultural center in the Monastery of Ribnica. Reminiscing on his complex past, this unusual monk follows the normal daily activities of a monk in prayer and service, but monk Arsenije is also a very talented painter, writer, and sculptor. This intimate portrait of a modern, unconventional monk with a higher cause, is set amongst the unparalleled beauty and landscapes that surround the Monastery of Ribnica in central Serbia.
